The Lower Main Line is a Mighty Good Club…

And It Welcomes New Members

Just west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, among the wooded hills and tumbling streams that empty into the Schuylkill River, a collection of communities known as the Lower Main Line brings a storied past and a bright future to residents and visitors alike.

In its midst a seasoned Rotary club with a century of service to these communities and to humanitarian efforts worldwide welcomes you to its thought-provoking speakers and fellowship. Please join us!

GUEST SPEAKERS

Prof. Jack Nagel, an election expert from the University of Pennsylvania, discussed nonpartisan open primaries in American states, specifically focusing on California's top-two primary system and Alaska's top-four system with ranked choice voting. Dr. Nagel explained how these systems aim to address issues with traditional primary elections, including low voter participation, plurality rule problems, and polarization, though he noted mixed evidence regarding their effectiveness in producing more moderate candidates. His presentation included California, Washington, and Alaska elections that demonstrated how these systems work in practice.

Club President, Pat Broderick
