Bala Cynwyd
This community was originally two separate villages – Bala and Cynwyd – named after two Welsh towns. The town’s commercial district straddles the railroad tracks originally belonging to the Philadelphia & Columbia Railroad — later the Pennsylvania Railroad and now part of Septa’s regional rail lines.
The Bala Cynwyd commercial district is the oldest in the area. The region currently includes residential homes and apartments as well as a busy commercial district along City Avenue, St. Asaph’s Road, and Presidential Blvd.
