At Lower Main Line Rotary, Service Above Self shows up in the variety of activities we support
Literacy & Education Project C.U.R.E. Rotaract Club @ SJU Rotary Partner Projects Lower Merion High School Interact Club
First and foremost, Rotary is a SERVICE organization. Rotarians combine their own collective talents and match them to demonstrated needs in their communities.
It’s no different with us.
In recent years our members have volunteered their time and helped fund activities and community organizations that are serving in our neighborhood and elsewhere, making a positive change in lives both here in Southeastern Pennsylvania, and in medical facilities and schools halfway around the globe.
It’s what Rotarians do, so if you’re looking for a way to expand your own horizons or bring your passion for a cause to us, it’s quite possible that this small but energetic club can help you reach that goal.
Like working with young people? We’re also helping to foster Rotary values among two young constituencies:
Saint Joseph’s University Rotaract Club (at the moment, on sabbatical)
A High School Interact Club at Lower Merion High School
Within the past five years our club has helped fund, volunteered for and supported these projects:
Tree House Books, major funding for a mobile library for this literacy organization in Philadelphia
Anderson Monarchs Recreational Programs benefiting underserved youth in Greater Philadelphia, especially through baseball
Boys Latin Charter School in Philadelphia, including two scholarship trips to China
Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, funding two high school students each year
Himalayan Hope, operational support for a community K-12 school in Northern India
Project C.U.R.E., initiating and continuing support to establish and maintain a Mid-Atlantic distribution center to receive and ship medical equipment and supplies worldwide
Ukraine school reconstruction, in partnership with Rotary’s Philadelphia District, for a chemistry lab and cafeteria.
Masters Program Peace Scholarship to a qualifying local student at Georgetown University, in Peace & Conflict Resolution
Narberth Food Pantry, gathering supplies to support a food challenged local population
Above, a community treasure awaits visitors to the West Laurel Hill Cemetery at almost any season, but particularly when Fall colors dapple the grounds and maples, sassafras and gingko strut their stuff. Off Belmont Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, it’s open to the public and always more delightful than you expected.
